Wendy Stewart - Friday Nov 9th at 7:30 pm. Tickets $15 ($25 to purchase Wendy Stewart AND Fynesound concert tickets)
Wendy Stewart is a
highly-respected harp tutor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and
Drama, in Glasgow, Scotland. She not only specialises in Scottish music but
is very well known for her knowledge and playing of music from mainland
Europe, especially Galician and Breton music. Wendy has an uncanny knack
for arranging music so that the harmonies are very interesting with plenty
of movement but without the extreme jazz influence executed by so many of
the Scottish players. Wendy sings, plays solo and has played with the finest
bands in Scotland, like Ceolbeg. She is also an expert player of the electro
harp. Wendy will entertain you with
harp but also concertina and vocals. She is an expert in music from mainland
Europe so if dance music from Spain interests you, for example, then don't
stay at home! Visit her website at www.wendystewart.

Fynesound - Saturday Nov. 24th at 7:30pm. Tickets $15 ($25 to purchase Fynesound AND Wendy Stewart concert tickets)
Fynesound is a wonderful ensemble of vocals, cello, harp
and fiddle and at this concert, highland dance. Their music has received
great praise from many sources, including the Scottish harp player and
composer, William Jackson who has performed at the Majestic in Gettysburg
with Bonnie Rideout. Fynesound will be more relaxed at this concert as it is
an open rehearsal. Come ready to sing favourite carols! Lyrics will be
provided.
The band
was formed in 2003, as it is now, and has gone from strength to strength,
receiving a WAMA nomination for their first recording, Almost Home. The name
comes from Loch Fyne in Argyll, Scotland, where Sharon, the harper, lived
before emigrating to the USA. Fynesound has a full Christmas Concert Schedule in the DC area and
Williamsburg, VA. Don't miss them in PA! Visit www.fynesound.com to find out more about the band.
